Our Model
Build a local network of service providers
Moonshot leverages and builds on existing skills and capacities across any region. This includes existing primary, secondary, and tertiary violence prevention practitioners and clinical specialists.
Equip services with resources and tools to safely intervene
All service providers must meet our Practice Standards. We help them get there. This means providing capacity building, training and mentorship. These requirements ensure all interventions are conducted safely, ethically, and to a high standard.
Enhance knowledge of the risk environment
Local authorities, threat assessment teams, and service providers require an up-to-date understanding of the risk environment. We provide regular updates on the online risk environment to support prevention efforts.
Digitise services
We work with service providers to bring their services online. This allows violence prevention services to be offered to people where they are and when they need it, whether in rural areas or metropolitan hubs. This includes development of digital content, chat functions, textlines, or other means of accessing care virtually.
Reach concerned bystanders and people considering violence with lifesaving services
We signpost violence prevention services directly to bystanders and people consuming violent content online. This approach reaches millions who may be in need of support, and has successfully connected people considering violence with lifesaving services.
United States
We operate a 24/7 text helpline set up in partnership with Crisis Text Line to support people considering violence.
To date, we have delivered over 200 crisis counselling sessions to people in need across the United States.
New York State
We deliver a State-wide Online Violence Prevention Model in partnership with New York State,
working with violence prevention organisations across the state.
