Moonshot Named Fast Company’s 7th Most Innovative Small Business in the World

Washington D.C. — Today,  Moonshot was named to Fast Company magazine’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for the second year running. This year, Moonshot was honored as the 7th most innovative small business in the world. The list highlights the companies making the biggest strides around the globe, paving the way for the innovations of tomorrow.

“Everyone on this list does something completely, uniquely different,  yet, they all have one thing in common: innovation,” said Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan.

In response to the news, Founders Vidhya Ramalingam and Ross Frenett released the following statement:

We’re so proud to be listed as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for the second year running, and this year as the 7th most innovative small business. Our team is under 100 employees, with an outsized impact. Our team’s innovations this year have shepherded tech giants into platform changes, ensured safer online experiences for billions of people across the globe, and saved lives, and saved lives. This recognition is a true testament to our team’s unfaltering commitment to end the most pervasive online harms – from rescuing children from abuse, channeling potential perpetrators of violent misogyny into counseling, or protecting hundreds of thousands of individuals from the dangerous effects of disinformation. In a context of great uncertainty and change in the tech sector and beyond,  Moonshot’s work remains critical. We are honored to be recognized by Fast Company again this year.

This year, Moonshot applied our solutions to a wide array of online harms, including violent misogyny, child exploitation, and disinformation. Some highlights:

  • Following the rise of incel and violent misogynistic communities online, Moonshot pioneered efforts to intervene with people inciting violence against women online, successfully channeling them into dedicated services in countries like Canada and the United States.
  • We reached out to hundreds of thousands of people consuming disinformation in Southeast Asia with the world’s first gamified inoculation treatment online, designed to take user attention away from disinformation content and channel them towards positive and engaging media literacy content within a game.
  • We successfully interrupted efforts to exploit children online in countries like the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
  • Moonshot’s ‘safety-by-design’ innovations have helped make tech platforms safer for over two billion people worldwide, in countries such as Germany, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Sweden.
